  A heat transfer is a quick and easy way to produce camera-ready items that appear to be screenprinted. The reason why is images do not require a separate screen to be made for each color in the design like screenprinting does. With screenprinting each screen is printed one at a time on the shirt. This process not only takes time but once the ink is on the shirt it takes more time for it to dry so that the ink does not smear.   This process works best when the images are going onto light colored items. If you have a dark image going on a dark shirt it can be difficult to match the colors exactly. In this case we would put a border around the image like in the example above so that the difference in color isn't as noticeable.
