  Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric such as clothing or bags with designs stitched using needle and thread. There are many styles that may use materials such as pearls, beads, quills or sequins. At Sichel we create designs with the use of the automated embroidery machine. The designs are stitched by the machine onto the fabric. The designs are digitized in preparation for a job. During the time before computers projects were done by “punching” designs on paper tape that ran through the machine. The problem with the old way was that one error in the production would ruin the entire design forcing you to start over. Today the process has been advanced to a science with the modern computer. Hand embroidered items can also be produced here at Sichel. Seamstresses in our On-Camera Dpt. have years of experience and expertise. This art form can also be used for home decoration. Tapestries, wall hangings and upholstery can easily be stitched with designs. By far the most popular ways the art is used is to decorate clothing.
