Can We Make an Embroidered Patch, Printed or Custom Patch? Yes! Just To Name a Few.

Ok, so you are working on the new Jason Statham movie. He is a private investigator that has been wrongly accused. There are fifty police cruisers chasing him through downtown Los Angeles and YOU are responsible for outfitting all of the police officers. That means you have to have the uniforms down, all the way to the details, including the patches.

The good thing for you is that we have specialized in producing a wide range of patches for on-camera use since 1983. We can custom make patches depending on what your needs are.

You can choose the shape that you would like your patch to be from the chart below.

Patch Shapes

The picture below shows an Embroidered Patch on the right and a Printed Patch on the left. There are benefits to each style of patch. If you need to have patches made in a hurry then printed patches are the way to go.

Printed patches have a quick turn around time and the set-up charges are considerably less than embroidered patches. You can have any quantity produced from 1 pc. and up.

Printed patches are often used for on-camera work because you can’t recognize the difference between embroidered patches and printed patches for the clothes that the background wear on film. If you have a design that has intricate details or fine print that is too small to embroider, then printed patches would be your answer.

Embroidered patches are used for principals. You will want the richness of embroidered patches for the clothes that the stars wear in their close-ups. They are produced in quantities of 1 or more dozen.

Printed v Emb

We can also do a combination patch that has embroidery to highlight the printed design and give it some depth.

Another reason we would do a combination patch is if the artwork has elements in the design that can't be embroidered.

The building in the patch below is too small and has too much detail to be embroidered. What we did in this case was print the difficult portions of the design and embroider the rest. A combination printed and embroidered patch is the result!

Combination Patch

There is the option to have patches Hand Embroidered or Machine Embroidered. For machine embroidery a digitized computer file would be created. For a quick explanation of what digitizing is go to the site map and click on the Digitizing link under the Embroidery Designs section.

Hand vs Machine

The patch on the left is an example of a hand embroidered patch while the patch on the right would be an example of a machine embroidered patch.

Sichel can also do specialty Appliqué patches. Appliqués are patches where fabric is embroidered on top of fabric to create the patch. The “Boxing Bee” below is an example of an appliqué patch.

Boxing Bee

The Bee looks pretty tough, huh?

Bishop Applique

We can also do an appliqué like the one above where fabric was sewn on top of fabric for the garment.

If you need varsity letters made Sichel can do the job. These patches are a combination of fabric, embroidery and chenille or terry cloth.

The varsity letter below is an example of a faux chenille patch that was done with terry cloth.

Faux Chinelle

The patches below were made with real chenille.

The "Mustangs" patches below were made with terry cloth and are a good example of what we can do.
